About LocalSend Kotlin
LocalSend Kotlin is an Android file-sharing client for transferring files and text between devices on the same local network. It discovers nearby devices and can send or receive files, folders, photos, videos, text, and clipboard content. Multiple transfers can be queued, monitored, cancelled, and reviewed in a history list. The app can also receive shared content from Android’s system share menu. Transfers use HTTPS, verify device identity through certificate fingerprints, and can require an optional PIN. SHA-256 checksums are supported. Users can select network interfaces, manage devices and favorites, and adjust receiving behavior. Transfers continue through a foreground service, with notifications and an optional keep-screen-awake setting. The app supports Android 5 and later and requires both devices to be on the same local network. Guest Wi-Fi, client isolation, multicast filtering, or firewall settings may prevent discovery or connection. It is an alpha project, and current limitations include no browser-link receiving, no resumable transfers, and no performance optimization for large files. LocalSend Kotlin is intended for direct device-to-device sharing without a remote account. It provides local-network discovery and transfer, while connection reliability depends on the network allowing the devices to communicate with one another.
