About LocalShare
LocalShare makes files on an Android device available to other devices on the same local network, such as a Wi-Fi network or phone hotspot. It starts a small HTTP server that lets recipients download files using an ordinary web browser, without installing a dedicated client. Files can be added from within LocalShare or sent to it through Android’s share sheet. The app can generate a QR code to help another device reach the shared files. Recipients can browse the files through a web interface or download multiple items together as a ZIP archive. Audio and video can be streamed, with seeking supported, so recipients can move through media without first downloading the complete file. LocalShare is useful for transferring or previewing files between devices on a shared network. Its server is local to that network; the evidence does not describe remote access over the internet or encryption and access-control options. Users should therefore consider who can reach the local network while sharing. The supplied feature list focuses on convenient browser-based access, QR-code setup, and media streaming.
