About lWS
lWS is a lightweight Android web server for serving static files. Users choose a document root, the folder from which files are made available, and a port between 1024 and 65535; the default is 8080. The app creates an example index file in its default private document directory. It can show the server URL in a browser, display a QR code for the address, or share the URL to another device. The server runs while Wi-Fi or tethering is connected and stops automatically when the network disconnects. It is intended for simple static content and is not optimized or tested for many simultaneous connections or large file transfers. The document root determines which files the server exposes. If it is changed to another readable folder, files under that location can be read by anyone on the same Wi-Fi network who knows the server URL; the app description warns that this could expose device data. The default private folder is described as a safer setup, but its contents are removed when the app is uninstalled on Android 5.0 or later. lWS is a small personal server for local network use, not a general-purpose high-load host.
