About MBCompass
MBCompass combines a compass, live location display, route recording, and map viewing. The compass shows true and magnetic north and uses readings from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. It also displays magnetic field strength and can alert users when the compass accuracy becomes low. The map view shows the device’s location and can use either online map tiles or offline map files selected by the user. Track recording can be started, paused, and resumed, including in the background. Saved tracks include distance, duration, average speed, elevation change, altitude range, and an elevation profile. Tracks can be starred, sorted, and exported as GPX files for use in compatible mapping tools. MBCompass is designed for people who need direction and a record of a route without a full navigation system. It supports landscape orientation and can keep the screen on during navigation. The app processes location on-device, has no ads or tracking, and does not depend on Google Play Services. Offline maps require the user to select a compatible map file.
