About mythmote
mythmote is a network remote control for MythTV frontends. It connects to the frontend’s text-based TCP remote-control interface and lets users navigate menus and control media playback from an Android device. Keyboard input can also be sent through to the frontend, so text can be entered remotely. The app can manage multiple frontends, making it possible to switch between different MythTV setups. Wake-on-LAN support can wake a compatible computer, and key bindings can be customized to suit the user’s preferred controls. The interface is designed to work on both small and large screens. A functional MythTV setup is required, and network remote control must be enabled in the frontend before the app can connect. mythmote is therefore a controller for an existing media-center installation rather than a media player or TV service on its own. Its main functions are navigation, basic media control, keyboard passthrough, and waking the target system.
