About Nearby Glasses
Nearby Glasses scans for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices and notifies the user when it detects manufacturer identifiers associated with smart glasses. Its purpose is to alert users to devices that may be smart glasses, based on information those devices broadcast over Bluetooth. The app does not establish that a detected device is definitely a pair of glasses or that it is recording. The description warns that false positives can occur, including from other devices made by the same manufacturer, and that the app can also miss nearby smart glasses. Nearby Glasses is therefore a limited signal-based detector, not a way to identify a person or determine what a device is doing. Bluetooth detection may not work consistently, and any log export is initiated by the user; logs are stored locally and contain encountered device manufacturer codes. The app is described as open source, without ads or telemetry. Its notification should be treated as an uncertain indication that a compatible Bluetooth identifier is nearby, not confirmation about a person or their activity.
