About Network Survey
Network Survey records details about cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS radio networks and can write survey data to GeoPackage or CSV files. Cellular logging covers GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, and NR, but it records the protocols currently connected to the phone rather than all five at once. Cellular records include information about the serving cell and basic details about neighboring cells. A phone must be locked to a particular protocol if the user needs to collect data for that protocol specifically. Survey records can be streamed to a gRPC server or MQTT broker if the user configures one; this is optional and is not enabled by default. The app can also create call-detail-record event logs in CSV format. It includes calculators for converting LTE cell identifiers to eNodeB and sector identifiers, and for translating LTE physical cell identities into their primary and secondary synchronization sequences. Some functions require sensitive Android permissions. SMS-related permissions are requested when call-detail-record logging is enabled, but the description states that the app does not send text messages. Background location permission is used to allow the survey app to start at device boot and can be denied if that behavior is not needed. The product is intended for technical radio surveys and logging; cellular data depends on the phone, its active network, and the permissions and optional server setup provided by the user.
