Nightbell runs uptime checks from an Android phone. It can monitor any target that responds over HTTP or watch a selected element on a rendered web page. Three monitor types are available: a status check that tests the response code; a request-and-response check that configures the method, headers, or body and evaluates the result; and a page-element check that uses an embedded browser to monitor DOM elements selected by tapping them. Response tests can check for matching text, exact values, regular expressions, or a JSON field at a specified path. When a monitor is considered down, Nightbell can display a full-screen red alert with a repeating alarm until it is acknowledged, including waking the screen while locked. Alert settings include sound, vibration, escalation, quiet hours, and the conditions that count as downtime. A home-screen widget puts the most urgent monitor first. Checks run from the phone, without a separate server or account. Target URLs and API tokens remain on the device, according to the supplied description. Reliable urgent alerts require Android notification, battery, full-screen, and Do Not Disturb permissions; some must be enabled manually in system settings. Nightbell is intended for monitoring HTTP services or web page elements, with alert delivery dependent on the phone’s configuration.
