About OpenWOL
OpenWOL sends Wake-on-LAN magic packets to devices on a local network. Users can save devices and wake them with a single tap. Optional automations can send a wake command when the phone connects to a selected Wi-Fi network, with a notification when an automation runs. The app stores its settings locally and does not scan networks or send background pings. Its optional automation feature reads the Wi-Fi network name; location permissions are requested only when that feature is enabled, because Android requires them to access the SSID. The description says location data is not collected, stored, or shared. OpenWOL can wake only devices that are reachable on the local network and configured for Wake-on-LAN. The target computer’s network adapter and power settings must support magic packets. The app is intended for simple local wake commands rather than remote access across the internet.
