About PlayOnDlna
PlayOnDlna sends supported media links from an Android device to a DLNA player on the same local network. A user shares a link to the app, which prepares compatible video or audio and streams it directly from the phone to a selected television or other player. Compatible players are discovered automatically, and playback can be controlled from the app. The app can prepare cover artwork and subtitles and supports playlists even when a receiving player does not handle them natively. Prepared media can be kept in a local library for playing again. The phone serves the media over the local network, so a compatible player and network connection are required. PlayOnDlna is designed for ad-free local playback on DLNA-compatible devices. It provides a bridge between a supported media link and the player, rather than requiring the media to be stored in the receiver’s own library.
