About Port Authority
Port Authority is a network utility for discovering hosts and scanning TCP ports. It can find devices on a local network, identify a public IP address, and display network information about the phone and other hosts. Scans can target local or wide-area hosts and use a custom port range. The app can also identify vendor information for MAC addresses and open discovered web services in a browser. Additional tools include DNS lookups for a wide range of record types, Wake-on-LAN for local devices, and lightweight service fingerprinting for SSH and HTTP or HTTPS servers. The scanner is heavily threaded to return results in parallel. The description gives estimated scan durations under different packet-response conditions, but actual timing depends on the network and devices being scanned. Port Authority is suited to inspecting network hosts and services, from a quick local discovery to a targeted port scan.
