About Privacy Cell
Privacy Cell displays information about the cellular protocol currently used by an Android phone. In particular, it distinguishes 5G New Radio in Standalone mode from Non-Standalone mode. Non-Standalone service uses a 4G network for control signaling alongside 5G for data, so the displayed 5G label alone may not tell the user which mode is active. The app can also warn when the phone is connected to older 2G or 3G networks. Its purpose is to make cellular connection details visible to the user, including protocol information that Android may not show prominently in its normal interface. Privacy Cell reports the connection type; it does not change which network the phone connects to or guarantee that a particular connection is secure.
