About RKNHardering

RKNHardering is an Android diagnostic app that checks for signs of VPN or proxy use. It runs nine detection modules in parallel and combines their results into one of three outcomes: not detected, needs review, or detected. The checks include comparisons of public IP results, inspection of network capabilities and proxy settings, review of network interfaces and routing, and scans for local proxy listeners. Other modules examine DNS behavior, device network signals, location-related data, and the availability of selected network transports. A native component also checks interfaces, routes, process maps, and root indicators. The combined result is calculated using weighted module results, so the app presents an aggregate assessment rather than relying on one check alone. RKNHardering is intended to analyze device and network configuration according to the methodology described in its product information. It requires Android 8 or newer and may make network requests to public IP-checking and geolocation services as part of its analysis. Its result is a diagnostic verdict, not a guarantee that all VPN or proxy use has been identified.
