About Rsync Server
Rsync Server makes shared storage on an Android device available to a standard rsync client over Wi-Fi. When the user starts the server while connected to Wi-Fi, the app opens an rsync endpoint using a randomly selected port and module tag. It displays the connection details needed by a desktop client while the server is running. A user can then browse and transfer files to or from the phone using the desktop’s rsync tools and keyboard-and-mouse interface. Shared storage includes common folders such as camera images and downloads, so the app provides a way to access files from another computer without managing transfers through the phone’s screen. The app is identified as an alpha release and has not been widely tested, so it should be treated as experimental. Its server is available only while started and while the device has Wi-Fi connectivity. The supplied information describes transfers over rsync but does not detail authentication or encryption, so users should consider the network environment when enabling access to device storage.
