About Secluso
Secluso is a home-security camera system for Android phones paired with Raspberry Pi cameras or compatible Secluso hardware. The app provides live video, alerts, and access to recordings. Camera video is encrypted before it leaves the local network, so the relay that carries traffic cannot read the footage. Users can choose hosted relay infrastructure or self-host the relay on their own server. The system includes on-device detection for motion, people, pets, and vehicles, allowing alerts to be generated from the camera feed. A guided deployment flow helps prepare the Raspberry Pi, pair it with the phone using a QR code, and configure remote access. This setup connects the camera and phone while retaining the end-to-end encrypted design for live viewing, notifications, and recordings. Secluso supports a do-it-yourself camera setup as well as dedicated hardware. Its model is different from a camera that uploads readable footage to a cloud provider: the app description says encryption occurs at the camera, before transmission, and the relay only transports encrypted data. Users who self-host can operate the relay themselves, while those choosing hosted infrastructure do not grant that relay access to the video. The Android build described for de-Googled devices avoids Firebase and Google Play Services for notifications. Secluso is intended for users willing to set up compatible camera hardware and configure a relay, with an assisted deployment path for that process.
