About Sensor Server
Sensor Server streams real-time readings from an Android device’s sensors to clients over WebSocket. A browser or another application can connect to the app and subscribe to a chosen sensor type. Readings are sent as JSON arrays of floating-point values through the WebSocket message interface. The app acts as a local data source for applications that need access to phone sensor measurements. A client connects to the server running on the Android device and requests the sensor type it wants; once connected, it receives a continuing stream of measurements. Sensor Server is useful for prototyping, experiments, or integrations where a phone’s sensors need to provide live input to a browser or another program. It does not itself analyze or visualize the measurements beyond making them available to connected clients. The supplied description does not enumerate supported sensor types, authentication, encryption, or network restrictions, so those details should not be assumed. The client and phone must be able to communicate over the network used for the WebSocket connection.
