About ServeIt
ServeIt turns an Android or iOS device into a simple HTTP file server. Users choose a directory on the device and a port, then other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network can access that directory in a web browser. A QR code can provide a quick way to reach the server address. The app is useful for browsing or downloading files from a phone or tablet without installing a special client on the receiving device. The selected directory determines which files are exposed. The server can use a port chosen by the user, with a default value provided by the app. ServeIt does not provide authentication. Its description assumes that devices on the same Wi-Fi network are trusted and explicitly warns against using it on public Wi-Fi. Anyone able to reach the server may be able to access the exposed directory, so users should choose the shared folder and network carefully. The supplied evidence describes directory access through a browser, but does not detail upload or encryption support.
