About Shellwave
Shellwave is an Android SSH client with a terminal, file transfer, and tools for managing remote hosts. Sessions can reconnect after a network interruption, and optional tmux-backed sessions can retain scrollback. A host can also keep a persistent session running when the app is closed. Host keys are checked on first connection and remembered; if a key later changes, the app stops and asks the user to review it instead of accepting it automatically. Users can connect with a password, imported private key, a key generated on the device, or keyboard-interactive authentication. Keys and credentials are encrypted locally, with hardware-backed protection on supported phones and an optional biometric lock. A generated private key can be installed on a host without leaving the device. Saved commands and scripts can be run interactively, in the background, or inside an existing session. They can be launched from the app, widgets, shortcuts, or Quick Settings tiles. Networking features include local and remote port forwarding, SOCKS5, and multi-hop jump hosts. Existing SSH configuration can be imported. Files can be sent or retrieved over SFTP. The terminal supports 256 colors and wide characters. Foldable and wide-screen devices can show the host list beside the terminal, with a tabletop layout that keeps the terminal above the hinge. Shellwave connects only to configured hosts and includes no usage tracking or analytics.
