About SimbaDroid

SimbaDroid turns an Android device into an SMB file server that can expose internal storage and a detected external SD card over Wi-Fi. A computer on the same network can browse the shared storage through the file-sharing protocol. The app creates shares for the available storage automatically and does not currently provide configuration options for custom shares. Root access is required for its default SMB port. The product information notes that a non-root setup would use an alternate port, which may require a compatible client or port mapping. The app supports SMB version 1 only, which can limit compatibility with modern systems. It also provides no authentication for the shares, so anyone able to reach the server on the network may access them; the supplied description cautions against using it on public networks. SimbaDroid is a basic way to access phone storage from a computer over a local Wi-Fi network, but its root requirement, older protocol support, and unauthenticated shares are important constraints. It requires storage access to read and write files.
