About Spectre
Spectre is an Android utility for observing nearby wireless signals and inspecting selected devices. It can display information about cellular networks, Wi-Fi access points, Bluetooth Low Energy broadcasts, and GNSS satellites. A live received-power reading combines cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth signal levels. Cellular views include serving and neighboring cells across 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G, including both SIMs. Wi-Fi tools list access points across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, provide security analysis, and support 802.11mc fine-time-measurement ranging where available. Bluetooth tools decode manufacturer data from advertising devices, including iBeacons, and can connect to a BLE device to inspect, decode, or write its characteristics. The app can also broadcast the phone as a configurable iBeacon. GNSS views show multi-constellation, dual-frequency satellite tracking and sky geometry. Filters and sorting help focus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth lists on particular devices. Spectre includes local-network discovery that can identify hosts, open ports, and services on a network. The supplied description says this network access is used only to probe devices on the user’s own local network. It also notes that Android gates some radio information behind permissions such as location, so the app requests the permissions required by the operating system to expose those signals. The app performs processing on-device and is described as having no ads, trackers, analytics, or Google Play Services. Spectre is aimed at technical inspection of wireless environments and device capabilities; available readings depend on phone hardware, Android permissions, and support from the nearby equipment.
