About Sweep
Sweep is an on-device checkup for signs of stalkerware and other sensitive phone configurations. It reviews installed apps against a bundled list of known indicators and checks device-admin apps, accessibility services, notification access, sensitive permissions, background services, keyboards, VPN settings, added certificate authorities, debugging options, and other system controls. It can also identify apps without launcher icons and apps installed from outside a store. Each finding is explained in plain language, and the app reports how many checks it could actually read along with what could not be inspected and why. It does not claim that a phone is safe; it reports the specific checks that did or did not find something. When a match is found, the app leads with guidance not to confront the suspected person and provides advocate hotlines, recognizing that removing surveillance software can increase danger. A quick-exit control is available on every screen. Sweep does not store results and has no internet permission. It requires permission to list installed apps, which is necessary for the checkup. The description says it is a beta offered to organizations for review and should be treated as one tool rather than an authority. It requires Android 9 or later; older systems may not expose all relevant details, especially if they have unpatched vulnerabilities.
