About Transito
Transito is a public-transport journey planner that downloads GTFS timetable data and calculates routes on the device. Users can search for feeds, download data, browse stops and departures, and plan journeys using one feed or multiple feeds together. Once the data has been downloaded and cached, route calculations and stop browsing work offline without network calls. Routes are presented as step-by-step directions and on a map. Frequently used places can be saved as favorites, and configuration options let users adjust routing parameters. A point-of-interest search is also available, but it requires network access. Transito is data-provider agnostic and can use openly available GTFS feeds; the app includes an in-app search for feeds from a large catalog. This lets users select transit data for different areas rather than being limited to one operator or city. The app is useful for planning trips and checking departures where compatible GTFS data is available, including offline after initial download. Route coverage and timetable freshness depend on the selected feed, and online place search requires a connection.
