About TyphoonEye
TyphoonEye is an Android app for viewing typhoon tracks, forecasts, and related alerts in the Northwest Pacific. Its interactive map shows live storm positions, historical tracks, forecast paths, and wind-radius information at several alert levels. Sample data can be opened when live data is unavailable, and is clearly identified as sample material. Users can enable distance-based alerts for approaching storms. Location permission is optional: the app matches warnings to the user’s location on the device, and the description says location is not sent to the relay server. Current warnings cover coastal areas. The app offers light and dark themes, dynamic color, multiple languages, and a map interface designed for mobile use. Typhoon data is retrieved from external weather APIs through a relay service, while map tiles are provided separately. The product description states that the relay uses the user’s IP address for rate limiting and does not store it. TyphoonEye is not an official meteorological service, and its description directs users to follow local meteorological authorities during emergencies. Its forecasts and alerts are an informational map and notification tool, with live availability depending on external data services.
