About VlcFreemote

VlcFreemote is an Android remote control for a VLC media player server. After the player’s HTTP interface has been configured, the app can detect it and provide controls for playback. Users can manage the play queue and bookmarks from the remote interface, making it possible to control media on another device without interacting directly with its screen. The app is intended for a setup where VLC is already running with its remote interface enabled. It provides a simple mobile control surface for common playback actions and media organization, rather than playing or storing the media itself. Automatic detection helps connect to the configured server on the local network. VlcFreemote is useful when a phone is more convenient than reaching the computer or media device running playback. Its functions depend on the server’s HTTP interface being set up and reachable, after which the app can provide playback, queue, and bookmark controls.
