About WiFi Automatic
WiFi Automatic is an Android utility that turns Wi-Fi off after the screen has been off for a user-defined interval. It is designed especially for Wi-Fi-only tablets that do not need a constant connection when idle. Reducing the time the wireless radio stays active can help lower standby power use. The app can also turn Wi-Fi back on when the device is started, so the tablet reconnects when it is being used. Its timeout setting provides more precise control than the standard Android Wi-Fi sleep policy by defining how long to wait after the screen turns off before disabling Wi-Fi. On devices with a cellular radio, the phone may switch to a mobile network when Wi-Fi is disabled, and that may use more power than leaving Wi-Fi on. WiFi Automatic is therefore most suited to devices without a cellular connection or users who understand how their device changes networks.
