About xemu project

xemu is an open-source emulator for the original Xbox game console. It reproduces the console’s hardware so compatible games and homebrew software can run on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The emulator supports up to four controllers for local multiplayer, and can connect with other emulator instances or original consoles for network play. Players can save and load snapshots of the emulated system state rather than relying only on in-game checkpoints. Render scaling can increase the game output from its original resolution up to 1080p. The emulator also supports networking features used by multiplayer projects and recreation services. Compatibility information is reported by volunteers based on their experience with specific titles and emulator versions, so results can vary. xemu is intended for people who have compatible original game media and want to run it through an emulator on a desktop computer. It is a software recreation of the console, not a catalog of games. Controller support and save states provide familiar play options, while scaling and networking extend the original experience on modern systems.
