Automation

Automation lets users create rules that connect device events to actions.

About Automation

Automation lets users create rules that connect device events to actions. A rule can use triggers such as time, location, battery state, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections, NFC tags, notifications, orientation, calendar appointments, phone calls, or whether another app is running. Actions can change sound or screen settings, control connectivity, launch apps, send notifications or messages, speak text, capture a screenshot, set variables, or run a script. Rules can combine a trigger with one or more actions, including waits between steps. For example, a user could mute the phone when a selected condition is met or start a media player after a device event. The app supports many system states and offers a broad range of actions for automating routine behavior. Automation depends on Android permissions and device-specific behavior; the description notes that some features may not work on every device or Android version. Some triggers, such as activity detection, are not available in every build. Users should review permissions and test rules before relying on them for important tasks.
