About Beacon Locator
Beacon Locator scans for Bluetooth Low Energy beacons and can trigger user-defined actions when a beacon is nearby or crosses a monitored region. It supports Eddystone, iBeacon, and AltBeacon formats. Events include a beacon entering range, leaving range, or being detected as near, allowing actions to be tied to changes in proximity. For each event, users can configure multiple actions. These include launching an application, opening a web address, obtaining the current location, broadcasting an intent, switching the phone between normal and silent sound modes, or invoking a Tasker action. For example, a user can configure the phone to switch to silent mode when a bedroom beacon is detected and return to normal mode when leaving that region. The range-based trigger model makes Beacon Locator useful for automating small phone actions in places where compatible beacons are installed. The app depends on receiving beacon signals and, for some actions, other applications or Android services. Its purpose is to connect beacon proximity events with actions selected by the user; the supplied information does not describe beacon hardware included with the app.
