About HTTP Request Shortcuts
HTTP Request Shortcuts lets users place shortcuts or widgets on an Android home screen to send requests to web services and REST APIs. A shortcut can use HTTP or HTTPS and supports common request methods, including GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, HEAD, OPTIONS, and TRACE. Users can configure authentication, request headers, text bodies, and file uploads, and use HTTP proxies or self-signed certificates. Responses can appear in a toast, window, or dialog, or the request can run silently. Variables can prompt for or insert values such as text, numbers, passwords, dates, and selections. JavaScript can run before and after a request to process data or trigger actions, including parsing JSON or XML, sending MQTT messages, waking a device over LAN, or launching Android intents. Shortcuts can be grouped into tabs, customized with icons, and imported or exported in JSON or cURL format. These options support repeatable API calls and small automation workflows from the home screen, including home automation and device services.
