About Keysh

Keysh lets users assign actions to physical volume-button presses, including when the screen is off. It is built around a shell-script handler: button events are sent to the script through standard input, and the script returns commands through standard output. This approach lets advanced users define what the buttons should do rather than limiting them to volume adjustment. Examples of possible actions include toggling the flashlight or controlling media playback. The exact behavior depends on the handler script the user configures. Keysh is therefore a small automation component for people comfortable working with shell scripts, rather than a ready-made collection of graphical button shortcuts. Its screen-off support makes it useful for actions that should remain available while the display is inactive.
