About Polished Recognition
Polished Recognition is an Android voice keyboard that turns speech into edited text in whichever app the user is typing in. Users can dictate, pause and resume mid-sentence, and switch between the voice keyboard and their regular keyboard without losing the recording. Raw mode inserts the transcription unchanged; other modes use a language model to remove filler words, adjust punctuation, restructure text, or translate it. Polish-only mode edits the text without translating. Users configure the speech-recognition and text-editing endpoints themselves, choose models, and can edit the prompt used for polishing. The app offers provider presets as well as custom compatible endpoints. It also supports a locally hosted endpoint, allowing the user to keep processing local if their chosen services do so. The app requires microphone access to record and internet permission for configured remote endpoints. It says data flows directly from the device to the endpoints the user selects, with no central server, account, analytics, or tracking. Dictated audio and text may therefore leave the phone if remote services are configured. Polished Recognition is intended for voice entry with configurable transcription and editing, but it requires a keyboard that allows third-party voice input; not every keyboard supports this workflow.
