About SpeakThat!

SpeakThat! reads incoming Android notifications aloud using text-to-speech. Users can choose what is spoken, when it is read, and how the voice sounds. Controls include selecting apps to allow or block, filtering media or duplicate notifications, excluding words, and limiting readouts by length or duration. Links can be read in full, reduced to their domain, or replaced with custom text. Speech behavior can be adjusted through voice, pitch, speed, volume, language, and audio output settings. The app can delay speech until notification sounds finish, apply cooldowns to avoid repeated announcements, and respect Do Not Disturb, phone calls, and audio modes. Optional rules can account for screen state, time schedules, and connected Bluetooth devices. Shake or proximity gestures can stop a readout. SpeakThat! also supports regular time announcements, daily summaries, external text-to-speech engines, automation apps, and settings import or export. A private mode can announce an app name without reading notification contents. Processing takes place on the device, and the app does not send data elsewhere unless the user chooses to submit a bug report.
