About Auth Token
Auth Token turns an Android phone into a software token that generates one-time passwords for account sign-ins. It supports both TOTP, where codes change based on time, and HOTP, where codes advance with authentication events. Tokens can be added by scanning a QR code, importing a Key URI format, or entering details manually. Generated codes can be used in place of codes from a hardware token when a service accepts the corresponding OATH method. The app can optionally require a PIN before users access their stored tokens, providing a local gate to the token list. Its main workflow is adding a token, opening it when signing in, and entering the current code into the service that requested it. Auth Token is an authenticator utility rather than a password manager or sign-in service. The supplied information does not specify cloud backup or cross-device synchronization, so users should not assume tokens are automatically recoverable if the phone is lost. Its supported functions are token provisioning, HOTP/TOTP code generation, and optional PIN protection.
