About CryptoPass
CryptoPass generates passwords from a single secret key rather than storing a separate generated password for every website. The user supplies the secret and a username and website address; the app derives a result using PBKDF2 with SHA-256 and encodes the output as Base64. The default generated password length is 25 characters, and the length can be adjusted. The generated passwords are not stored. CryptoPass does keep username and website-address pairs for convenient access, so the saved information helps identify which inputs to use when deriving a password again. The same secret and site details are used to reproduce the corresponding result. CryptoPass can be used as a password generator and is compatible with a browser extension that uses the same scheme. The supplied description specifies 5,000 PBKDF2 iterations. It does not describe recovery if the master secret is forgotten, so users should understand that the secret is needed to regenerate passwords.
