About CryptoSafe

CryptoSafe is an offline Android app for encrypting and decrypting text. Users can create password-protected “boxes” for separate conversations, each with its own password, and share text into a box from other apps or share encrypted text back out. Messages can be set to delete automatically after a chosen period from one hour to 90 days. Lock behavior can be configured to ask for the password each time, remember it temporarily, keep access for the session, or remember it permanently. The app lists AES-256-GCM encryption and Argon2id key derivation, an encrypted local database, and a password generator with a strength indicator. It can lock access with a PIN or fingerprint and an automatic lock timer. Screenshot protection is enabled across the app, and the help section provides usage documentation. The interface is translated into 15 languages. CryptoSafe does not use the internet, according to its description, and keeps its data on the device. Its encryption and box design are intended for keeping shared text protected within the app, but they do not make a compromised or unlocked device safe. Users still need to protect box passwords and consider the receiving app and sharing channel when moving messages out of CryptoSafe.
