About DeltaSync

DeltaSync keeps a KeePass database synchronized across devices through a server that the user operates or has access to. It is a background synchronization client, not a password manager or database viewer: users choose an existing .kdbx file, provide its master password once, and continue using a separate compatible app to view and edit entries. DeltaSync transfers entry-level changes rather than replacing the whole database file, and it also synchronizes groups and the entries’ group assignments. The Android app requires a separately installed self-hosted server; no public default server is provided. The server uses PHP and PostgreSQL, and the user must enroll the device before synchronization can work. Once configured, the app keeps the database in sync through Android’s background-work system. The project also has desktop and server components. Data is encrypted end to end. Each entry is protected with XChaCha20-Poly1305 using key material derived from the master password with Argon2id and HKDF-SHA256. The server stores encrypted data rather than readable entry titles, usernames, passwords, notes, or attachments. Edits on separate devices can merge when they affect different entries or fields; conflicts use field-level last-writer-wins behavior. A database can be shared with multiple users by wrapping its master key for each recipient device, while the server can see who has access but not the content. DeltaSync is open-source, with separate licenses for its server and clients. The sync layer is described as feature-complete while the interface remains minimal and the software is beta. It suits users who want encrypted multi-device synchronization and can provide or arrange the required server.
