About DroidFS

DroidFS stores files in encrypted vaults and provides an internal file browser for accessing them. Rather than mounting an encrypted volume as a normal filesystem, the app opens the vault through its own interface. It supports two container formats: one encrypts file contents and names while leaving directory structure and file sizes visible; the other encrypts directory information as well and obscures file sizes, with slower operation described as a trade-off. The app can open common media and document types, including video, audio, images, text, and PDF files. It can also take photos or videos directly into an encrypted vault, expose a volume to other apps, unlock using fingerprint authentication, and automatically lock open volumes when the app goes into the background. Shared-storage access is needed only for vaults located there; camera, audio, biometric, and notification permissions apply to their corresponding functions. DroidFS is free and open-source software. Its use involves choosing a compatible encrypted container and opening it within the app. The product description cautions that no storage method provides absolute security and that the app comes without a warranty. Users should understand the difference between the supported container formats and the information each one does or does not conceal.
