About FreeProxy
FreeProxy routes Android app traffic through a SOCKS5 or HTTP CONNECT proxy that the user provides. It creates a system VPN interface to capture traffic and forward it through the upstream proxy, including for apps that do not have their own proxy settings. Users can set up multiple proxy profiles and choose whether all apps, an allow list, or a bypass list use the connection. A profile can include username and password authentication and can be tested with a connection handshake before saving. The app provides a live activity log with DNS lookups and connections, including the app and hostname associated with each request. DNS can be resolved through the proxy or directly. A persistent notification shows transfer counters and provides a disconnect action. Other options include bypassing private networks, blocking IPv6 traffic, stopping when the network drops, and starting at boot. FreeProxy does not supply proxy servers; users must configure one they control or are authorized to use. It supports IPv4 only. UDP forwarding requires a SOCKS5 server that supports UDP association, and ICMP traffic such as ping cannot pass through these proxy protocols. Proxy credentials are stored unencrypted in the app’s private directory. Per-app attribution in the activity log requires Android 10 or later. These limits shape which apps and network functions can work through a given profile.
