About Neuron Encrypt
Neuron Encrypt is an Android app for encrypting and decrypting files locally. Users select a file through Android’s file picker, enter a passphrase, and create an encrypted .vx2 container. Multiple files can be queued for batch processing with one passphrase, and the app detects whether a selected file should be encrypted or decrypted from its format. Operations can be cancelled, and users can optionally wipe the original file after encryption with confirmation. The app uses AES-256-GCM-SIV for encryption and Argon2id to derive keys from passphrases. It processes files in chunks and uses an authenticated file header. A password-strength meter helps users assess a passphrase before starting. It requires no network or broad storage permissions and stores no cloud copy; files are handled through Android’s document picker. Neuron Encrypt has no account, analytics, tracking, or telemetry. It does not provide passphrase recovery: if a passphrase is forgotten, the encrypted files cannot be recovered. The app is open-source software and is intended for users who want an on-device file encryption workflow and can safely retain the passphrase needed to decrypt their files.
