About PGPony
PGPony is an Android OpenPGP app for encrypting, decrypting, signing, and verifying messages and files. Users can manage a keyring, generate keys, import keys by QR code, and back up or restore encrypted keyring data. It supports PGP/MIME email, including decrypting messages with attachments and composing encrypted email files. The app can also act as a cryptographic provider for compatible mail and password-store apps. PGPony supports NFC hardware security keys for on-card key generation, signing, decryption, PIN management, and reset. It can read password-store entries, generate one-time codes, and optionally use biometric locking and secure-screen protection. Key discovery can use online key directories and a verifying key server, with optional routing through Tor. Post-quantum OpenPGP support is available in two evolving formats, but cross-tool compatibility is limited: one format works with some current tools for public-key import and message exchange, while private-key import or the other draft format is not yet broadly supported. Classical RSA and Ed25519 keys are unaffected. PGPony works on-device without accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking and is open source.
