About Session F-Droid
Session is a messaging app for private one-to-one and group conversations. It uses end-to-end encryption for messages and attachments, including voice snippets, photos, and files. Closed groups can include up to 100 people. The app does not require a phone number or email address to create an account; users receive a Session ID instead. Messages are routed through a decentralized network of user-operated servers. Session describes its routing as protecting the sender’s IP address from conversation partners and servers. Its design aims to avoid centralized message infrastructure and metadata logging. These are characteristics of the service’s architecture as described by the product. This Android build is an unofficial rebrand and does not include the Firebase push service used for “fast mode,” so that mode cannot be enabled in this version. Session is free, open source, and ad-free. The supplied description does not detail delivery timing when fast mode is unavailable, so users should not assume the same push behavior as other editions.
