About TunnelForge
TunnelForge is an Android client for connecting to existing L2TP/IPsec VPN servers that use IKEv1. It is intended for organizations, schools, and personal networks that still rely on this older VPN setup. TunnelForge provides a client path for devices where the built-in Android option is unavailable, but it does not provide a VPN service or account; users need credentials and access to a compatible server. The app supports L2TP with optional IPsec and can create a full-device VPN tunnel. It also offers a proxy-only mode with local HTTP and SOCKS5 listeners, plus per-app routing through include or exclude lists. Multiple connection profiles can be stored locally, and users can configure DNS over UDP, TCP, TLS, or HTTPS, as well as the connection MTU. Connection state and detailed local logs help users understand whether a tunnel is active and troubleshoot configuration. TunnelForge is a client for existing infrastructure rather than a commercial network service. Its usefulness depends on whether the user’s network exposes a compatible L2TP/IPsec endpoint and provides the required connection details.
