About URLSanitizer
URLSanitizer removes tracking query parameters from web links before they are opened or shared. Users can first open a link with the app and then choose where to send the cleaned URL, or share a link to URLSanitizer and select a destination afterward. The app works as an intermediary in Android’s link-opening and sharing flows. Users can add query parameters to the cleanup list, and wildcard rules are supported. This lets the rules be extended when a URL contains a tracking parameter that is not already covered. The app receives the original link through an Android intent, modifies it, and creates a new intent for the user’s chosen next action. URLSanitizer is a rule-based link cleaner rather than a browser. Its effectiveness depends on the configured query rules; removing tracking parameters does not guarantee that every kind of tracking embedded in a website or link is removed.
